Summary:

Something that I've been thinking about lately is how many people are putting off doing what they love because they think they have time. Some people don't have that time. If you're lucky enough to be alive, do something to move in that direction. Do what you love and stop wasting your time on things that don't make you happy.

Transcript:

It is Monday January 22nd and I'm Josh Newton.

Welcome to the I'm Josh Newton show where it is all about putting your potential into practice.

Today I want to give you a little bit of anti-motivation.

Some of you listening may have heard something that Gary Vaynerchuk says, it's one of his very short motivational quotes and what he says is, "you're going to die." Now this seems really harsh and I think it always takes people off guard but what he's really trying to get across is it there's no time like the present and you're definitely not coming back you're not getting a second chance at this so you need to live this life the way that you want to live it. So you shouldn't be living somebody else's life, living up to their expectations, you shouldn't be doing things that you hate doing, that you just don't love whatsoever and are doing just to make a paycheck.

My issue with this isn't the advice, it's not how drastic it is, it's actually that I still think this is far off for some people. Even though you might be very aware of the fact that you're going to die, it still seems very far off for a lot of people. Especially young people who might be in their early twenties, late twenties, and maybe even early thirties who think, "okay I've got 50 more years, I have 60 more years." But something that really caught my attention today when I thought about it is, right at this very second as I was thinking about this and right at this very second is I'm recording this and at the very second you're listening to this somebody is dying. Whether that's in a car accident or a drug overdose, there's a hundred different ways you can go and somebody right now is leaving the Earth with unmet dreams, with a dead-end job that wasn't their passion. And they were probably thinking I have 50 more years, I have 60 more years, I have 20 more years that I can actually dedicate to the things that I love. For the time being they were stuck in something that they hated to do.

And now that person doesn't have the chance to actually live out their passion and do the thing that they were meant to do. So here's my encouragement for you today you are not that person if you're listening to this right now. You haven't had the rest of your life taken away from you. You haven't had that chance taken away from you so, instead of putting it off another day and thinking you're guaranteed another day, another week, another month, or another year. Go make something happen right now to live out your passion. to do the thing that you love to do and stop worrying about what anybody else thinks about it.

Sorry for getting kind of heavy on you guys but this is something that's really been on my mind lately is how many people are putting off figuring out who they are, figuring out what they're supposed to be doing, and figuring out what it is that they should be really putting their time, their effort, and their passion into.

As always guys I would love to hear what you think. I would love your opinion and I would love your feedback. If you're listening to this on Anchor, give me a call in or leave me a comment.
